Each year, we at Discount Fabric Warehouse do a blanket and pillow case drive to help organizations in our communities. This year is no different as with the current situation there are many families and keiki who need our help. We are always so amazed and warmed by the generosity of our sewing community and thank everyone who has donated in the past and are still willing to donate and help these organizations.
So What Can You Do?
From August through October, bring in a homemade blanket to donate. We ask that the blankets be no smaller than 1 yard square (so 36″x36″) and made of child-friendly materials. Please keep your pillowcases to standard size (20″x26″) and we ask that you not use trim or anything that can get caught on things or pulled off by little ones. Metallic and glittery accents on fabric prints are fine as long as it does not flake off.
For your first donation, you will receive a $5 gift certificate. There is no limit on how many blankets and pillow cases you can donate, but the gift certificates are limited to 1 per person. Items must be homemade and meet the standards set by the organizations.
Please ensure that items are made of quality materials and are ready for donation. In the past we have found donations that were sewn inside-out, had open seams, or pins still in the project. We often times don’t have the time to check each and every item and ask that you quality check your donations before bringing them in.
Where Are the Blankets and Pillow Cases Going?
At this time we do not have the names of the organizations that will be receiving the items. We are hoping to get those for you soon.
