Join us for our Spring Blanket Drive benefiting organizations in our local communities. The 2023 Spring Blanket Drive will take place from February through the end of April 2023.

What is the Blanket Drive and How Can I Help?

Each year, Discount Fabric Warehouse holds a blanket drive to benefit various organizations. In the past few years, we have donated the blankets collected to organizations such as Hawai’i Care Choices on the Big Island. These blankets are given to individuals that are helped by these organizations and many are cherished for years to come.

There are many ways that you can help!

1. Bring in a Homemade blanket for donation. This is the most obvious. All of our stores are collecting homemade blankets that are a minimum of 30″x40″ and made of quality materials. They can be sewn, quilted, knitted, crocheted, or any combination. We just ask that the blankets are made with love and are well-constructed. We are unable to accept store-bought blankets or those that do not meet our standards. When you donate a homemade blanket, you will receive a $5 Discount Fabric Warehouse gift certificate as a thank you for your first donation. (Limit 1 gift certificate per person. There is no limit on how many blankets you can donate, but you are only able to receive 1 gift certificate.)
2. Host a Blanket-Making Party. This can be done at a private residence or if you are looking for a space and are open to having others join you, please speak to your local store manager to see if our classroom space is available for use. This can be a great place to meet new people, get ideas on a new blanket technique, and help make blankets for those in need!
3. Donate materials. Not able to make a blanket? Not interested in making one? If you’d still like to help, we welcome any donations of materials for others to make blankets out of. Fabric, batting, thread, pre-made binding, and more can be donated to any of our stores and we will make sure that they get to folks who can complete the blankets on your behalf.
4. Spread the Word! We can’t emphasize enough how letting your friends and family know about our blanket drive can help! You never know if there’s a person in your life who might be wanting to find a reason to make a blanket!

This Year’s Chosen Charities

Each of our locations has chosen a charity or two that will benefit from their blanket drive. All blankets donated to a specific store location will be kept in the community.

Hilo – Hawai’i Care Choices

Kona – a Hospice-related organization

Kauai – Alu Like Kupuna Program

Maui – Maui’s charity will be announced soon.
